NYC CBP Knowledge Management Internship, Summer 2010
Description:
The Knowledge Management intern will work to develop a knowledge management processes for Seedco’s NYC Community-based programs department (NYC CBP). The intern will interact with key members of the NYC CBP team to survey and assess existing resources and needs, research industry materials, and create processes and systems for their dissemination and use. The intern will propose their own ideas for best practice sharing and knowledge management processes amongst Seedco’s NYC Workforce Development and Asset-Building team. The intern will report to the Senior Program Associate for Technical Assistance.• Review MailSite folders for NYC CBP and develop system of standardization and organization.
o Survey NYC CBP staff to understand which folders are currently used and which should be archived.
o Develop and document a standardized process for setting up and using MailSite folders.
• Develop one-pagers for each program within NYC CBP.
o Work with program staff to capture key information related to each contract which can be shared across the department. Information to include: services offered, partners, funders, contract amount, Seedco staff contacts, identified best practices and/or challenges, etc.
• Organize NYC CBP library
o Inventory and organize existing hard copy documents.
o Research sources for WFD resources and develop repository for electronic resources and website links.
• Develop repository and process for best practice sharing amongst NYC CBP staff. Including:
o Notes and materials from funders
o Notes and materials from conferences and lectures
o Materials developed by Seedco TA/Program Development depts.
o Policy notes and memos
o Etc.
Qualifications:
• MPA graduate student or similar preferred;
• Strong interest in knowledge management and internal communications;
• Strong interest in non-profit management;
• Can-do attitude and ability to multitask;
• Proficient in MS Office products; and
• Knowledge of workforce development sector a plus.
