Brief Project Description:
Seedco is a national workforce development non-profit that works with local partners to create economic opportunities for disadvantaged job seekers, workers and neighborhood entrepreneurs. Seedco, in partnership with New York City’s Center of Economic Opportunity (CEO) is implementing a Conditional Cash Transfer Program called Opportunity NYC. Opportunity NYC is an experimental program that aims to break the inter-generational cycle of poverty. This program was launched in December 2007 and ends on December 31st 2011 and comprises of two sub-programs: Family Rewards and Work Rewards with a total of 5000 families.

Seedco seeks an Accounting Intern with thorough knowledge of accounting practices and considerable experience with auditing.

1. The Accounting intern will provide support to set-up systems to track the payables and receivables for Opportunity NYC;
2. The Accounting intern will work with Operations Manager to reconcile the ONYC monthly payables and receivables with Seedco’s Finance Department and to troubleshoot any discrepancies;
3. The Accounting intern will work with Operations Manager to organize, prepare or provide physical or electronic documents for audits by any agency as per the contract.

Qualifications:

• Graduate degree required—MBA, Mathematics, or similar degree;
• Accounting background with strong MS excel skills; and
• Experience with payment audits/payable.
