Internship in the Victim Services Unit of the Brooklyn DAs Office

Description:

The Kings County District Attorney’s Office Victim Services Unit is looking for qualified student interns who are willing to be a part of the innovative accomplishments of the office. There are many opportunities for learning and growth with professionals in the criminal justice, social work and legal arena.

Types of responsibilities:
• Crisis Counseling, long and short term counseling with victims of domestic violence
• Advocacy for crime victims
• Community Outreach
• Escorting clients to court
• Working with Assistant District Attorneys, Police, Judges, Board of Education and many other offices
• Advocacy with outside agencies, congregations and community resources
• Legal advocacy within the criminal justice system
• Ongoing case management for crime victims (i.e. sexual assault, arson, burglary, elder abuse, domestic violence)
