phati’tude Literary Magazine seeks high school and college interns interested in writing, editing, graphic arts, web programming, marketing and grant writing who have a high degree of self-motivation, able to work independently, superior communication (both oral and written) and organizational skills, with an interest in literature, publishing and culture.

Qualifications:

We require excellent communication and good typing skills. Computer literacy is an absolute must. Knowledge of Microsoft Word is essential. Familiarity with content managements systems (to update the website), InDesign and Photoshop (to work on the magazine) is an added plus. Good communication skills and the ability to work well with others are essential. The ability to stick to deadlines is absolutely mandatory.

phati’tude Literary Magazine, established in 1997, is an award-winning quarterly published by the Intercultural Alliance of Artists & Scholars, Inc. (IAAS) is a NY-based nonprofit organization that promotes multicultural literature and literacy. phatitude Literary Magazine (http://phatitude.org), an 8 x 10 perfectbound book that ranges from 130-160 pages, publishes and promotes multicultural literature, with the best poetry, prose, short stories, articles and interviews along with literary criticism, book reviews and biographical profiles by established and emerging poets, writers and artists. Our goal is to present to the public carefully selected literature where both students and lovers of literature can better understand and appreciate a literary heritage that comes from many diverse backgrounds, promoting critical thinking skills. phati’tude Literary Magazine is available on Amazon.com (http://tinyurl.com/phatitude-amazon).

You should know that while our PO Box address is in New York City, we operate and manage phati’tude Literary Magazine in a computer cloud, meaning we communicate and conduct business using our laptops and cell phones, almost exclusively. For those individuals in New York City, we meet from time to time, and we conduct staff meetings via webcam and/or conference calls.
