The Tank began in 2003 as an entirely volunteer run organization, and it remains almost completely volunteer run today. We simply couldnt keep our doors open seven nights a week without our dedicated team of volunteer staff.

NOW ACCEPTING FALL 2012 INTERNSHIP APPLICATIONS

The Tank is looking for passionate, motivated individuals to assist in the day-to-day operations of our non-profit arts organization. Interns will receive training with staff and artists in all aspects of dance programming and administration. Interns must be able to commit 10 hours a week for at least 12 weeks. Ideal candidates are hard-working with an interest in arts management and/or production. The Tank provides a friendly environment with hands-on experience and real life application. Prior experience is a plus but not necessary. It is possible to receive school credit for this internship and could expand into an associate curator role.

ASSOCIATE CURATOR
The Theater Program at the Tank features performances that have been carefully selected by a team of curators committed to showcasing the most exciting new work among emerging dance artists in New York City. Tank theater artists take risks, push boundaries, and engage their audience with wit and beauty.
Duties Include:
•Artistic liaison
•Assist curators in administrative tasks
•Review submissions and help organize events
•Receive hands-on experience in all aspects of curating

COMMUNICATIONS DEPARTMENT INTERNSHIP
The Tank’s communication department is active on Facebook, Twitter and is listed as one of the top nonprofits to follow on Tumblr. In the same way The Tank curates emerging artists and new work, the communication department keeps time with trending topics, marketing methods and strategic partnerships.
Duties include:
•Create content, update website and social networking sites for The Tank brand
•Research long- lead press opportunities for special projects
•Assist with the execution of 10th Anniversary Tank events
•Track and re-distribute press coverage as it occurs

DANCE DEPARTMENT ASSOCIATE CURATOR
The Dance Program at the Tank features performances that have been carefully selected by a team of curators committed to showcasing the most exciting new work among emerging dance artists in New York City. Tank dance artists take risks, push boundaries, and engage their audience with wit and beauty.
Duties include:
•Create press releases, update website and social networking sites for each dance show
•Research long- lead press opportunities
•Create content and update social media for the dance program
•Help plan 10th Anniversary Tank events
•Act as a liaison between volunteers, artists and the Tank
•Schedule tech rehearsals and artist walk-throughs

DEVELOPMENT INTERNSHIP
Like all non-profits, The Tank relies on a combination of contributed income from Foundations, Corporate Sponsors, Donors and Patrons. An integral part of The Tank’s success is identifying new contributed income sources, cultivating relationships, planning fundraisers and interacting with artists to gain a clear understanding of The Tank’s continuously evolving programming, the artists we support and the work we present.
Duties Include:
•Assist in administrative tasks and grant research
•Help with fundraising and individual giving
•Maintain the Tank’s programming archive
•Act as a liaison between artists, curators and our development team

VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR

Duties Include:
•Recruit volunteers
•Coordinate evening schedules
•Schedule training schedules
•Act as a liaison between volunteers, artists and the Tank
