Partnership for the Home

Since its founding nearly three decades ago, the Partnership for the Homeless has been rooted in the fundamental belief that homelessness is an unacceptable part of our urban landscape; that as a city and a nation we can prevent and ultimately end homelessness. We believe that, together, the public and private sectors must focus our efforts on long-term solutions that address the personal and structural issues that ensnare so many. We believe these efforts must be grounded in evidence of what works based on strong quantitative and qualitative data as a means of developing scalable best practice models for preventing homelessness. To this end, the Partnership today is one-part service provider and two parts a learning and advocacy organization. Our programs work with approximately 6,500 individuals and families annually who are homeless or at-risk; we deliver coordinated assistance that touches on multiple aspects of their lives, addressing both immediate needs and long-term efforts to achieve well-being and prosperity. Our research arm uses rigorous methods to evaluate the effectiveness of our programs and to launch investigations that explore the drivers of homelessness. We then work to transform what we learn into action through advocacy campaigns that seek to change policies and practices, as well as funding decisions, relying on solutions that are demonstrated to be both workable and cost-effective.
