Get Organized and Lead (GOAL) Community Organizing and Philanthropy Summer

Share |

Description:

All Stars is seeking energetic and socially committed college students for the Get Organized and Lead Summer Internship in New York City and Chicago! If youre looking for a unique and challenging summer internship, and a way to make a difference in the lives of inner-city youth, this is the place for you!

All Stars Project, Inc. (ASP) is a national non-profit organization that uses performance to help young people from poor communities to develop--in other words--to be able to create success in their lives. Since its founding in 1981, with the support of thousands of volunteers and financial supporters, ASP has grown from a small community program to a national leader in the field of after-school programming. Each year, the ASP reaches 10,000 inner-city youth in New York and Chicago, IL.

ASP programs take place outside of school, and provide free opportunities to poor and minority young people. The programs are: the All Stars Talent Show Network, a program where young people produce and perform in talent shows in their own neighborhoods; Youth Onstage!, a theatre training school taught by professional actors and directors; and the Development School for Youth, where young people receive leadership training and paid summer internships in partnership with the business community. ASP actively promotes supplementary education and the performance learning model in academic and civic areas.

Through its hands-on, grassroots approach to community organizing, fundraising, and outreach, ASP has built a successful non-profit entirely independent of government funding. This grassroots approach to fundraising is continued every summer in New York and Chicago by a group of outstanding college students who participate in the Get Organized and Lead (GOAL) Summer Internship.
