Description:
The Gift-in-Kind (GIK) team is responsible for the acceptance and allocation of product donation offers from product donors and for the building of shipments for our partners and internal departments. This internship is an unpaid, and lasts the duration of one school year. It will include at least one major project to improve our information management tools and day-to-day responsibilities to understand and support the GIK processes.Responsibilities:
•Take on certain GIK process tasks and participate in GIK meetings and activities with the intent being not only to support the GIK coordinator but to learn and understand the integrative GIK function.
Tasks could include maintaining core databases, making product allocation decisions, visiting & working in the warehouse to identify inventory, coordinating with the local agencies regarding partner or product questions, traveling to pick up product, and gathering data from internal clients.
•Manage other projects as intern and team bandwidth permits.
•Professional business attire will be required for specific engagements, such as conferences, meetings with donors, workshops, etc. While presentable and polished attire will be required at all times.
Experience Gained:•Working exposure to all facets of the internal supply chain of a global not-for-profit organization from a central perspective.
•Understanding of, and participation in, the decision-making process in an environment with uncertain supply and unclear demand.
•Significant Quickbooks work using Quickbooks as a data management tool for the storing of data, easy access to specific slices of data, and presentation of data. Will include spreadsheet development, data entry, and coordination between multiple sheets of data.
Qualifications:
Qualifications:•Current college student (preferably junior or senior year) or recent college graduate interested in community based humanitarian assistance
•Record of academic achievement and seriousness of purpose
•Strong verbal and written communication skills
•Strong organization skills; must be detail oriented
•Excellent Excel skills, proficiency in Microsoft Word; Quickbooks proficiency preferred but not required
•Prior office/administrative experience preferred
•Self-starter; ability to work independently and meet deadlines
•Team orientation; balanced focus on personal accountability and team goals
•Career interest in community development, emergency response, and/or international affairs preferred
•Must have a heart for children, a personal relationship with Jesus Christ is preferred
