Fall/ Winter 2012 – Art Journal Editorial + Production Intern

Avant-garde art journal is seeking an editorial and production intern for Fall/Winter 2012 to work on its 5th iteration. Journal features 20+ international artists and art critics, and is sponsored by the Spanish Consulate. Intern will work under the direction of the executive editor to realize of the concept of the journal, its publication and distribution. He/ she will work closely with guest editor and contributing artists to track and organize artist submissions and all additional production and aesthetic details for publication. Intern will work on generating publicity for the journal, including contributing to press releases. Intern will also aid in the planning of the book launch party in early 2013, which may include a panel discussion with international curators and art critics.

Seeking immediate fill of position until March 2013, the release date of the publication. Two days a week.

INPUT is a bi-annual nonprofit journal that supports artistic and cultural dialogue. For each limited edition, a guest art director is invited to approach the space of the book in a curatorial fashion, using it as a means to explore current cultural conditions without commercial interruption. INPUT has been featured at the New York Armory Art Fair, the New York Art Book Fair, and Printed Matter.

Qualifications:

Current college or graduate student, or recent grad, with a strong focus in the humanities and some experience in the editorial or publishing field. Candidates should be extremely detail oriented, highly organized, computer savvy, self-motivated and able to work cooperatively and meet deadlines. Candidate must have excellent writing and editing skills. Experience with Microsoft Excel a plus. Course credit is possible based on intern’s institutional requirements.
