Communications/Marketing Intern

This position offers a high school senior, undergraduate student or graduate student an opportunity to acquire practical work experience, business coaching, professional development and one-on-one business mentoring experience. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Plan the official launch events that will take place in the Fall of 2013 in North Carolina, New York, and Washington, DC
• Lead outreach campaigns, assist with web content development, and social media engagement (specifically Facebook, Twitter, Linked In)
• Researching deadlines for media opportunities in both print and digital publications
• Monitoring social media engagement and event listing opportunities
• Maintaining and updating the contacts database
• Researching publications for pitches
• Other projects as assigned

Qualifications:


• Able to adhere to confidentiality agreements due to sensitive information
• As a number of work related projects and requests for this internship period will be related to the faith-based side of the business, this intern should be an Evangelical Christian
• Of good character and a strong work ethic


• Preferred background in English, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Christian Education, Religious Studies, Public Administration, or a similar field of study; if a high school senior – a minimum GPA of 3.3 is required
• Preferred, but not required; knowledge of North Carolina, Washington, DC and New York resources
• Organized, resourceful and detail-oriented
• Responsiveness in meeting tight deadlines
• Excellent communication skills – written and verbal
• Interest in digital communications (website marketing and social media)
• Knowledge of how to utilize the Internet for research
• Interest in self-help, professional development, empowerment, women’s leadership, teen ministry
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office and basic design or photo editing skills
• Typing speed – at least 55 words per minute

Paid Internship Info:

$7.75 per hour

Hours:

10 hours per week (day and time flexibility)
