Social Media/ New Media Intern for Contemporary Art Organization

Full service art advisory firm specializing in 20th century, emerging and contemporary art & design seeks Social Media Intern. The Social Media/ New Media Intern will report to the Director of this art organization and work closely within the Marketing strategy. The position offers an active role in our team, our events and the art world at large.

If you are passionate about art and love technology, this is the ideal opportunity to work closely within a private global art organization to maintain and grow our online presence and knowledge of social and new media.

RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to the following):
• Execute the companys social media strategy through regular activity on various platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, Pinterest, LinkedIn and others
• Explore and strategize about best practices and emerging trends in social and new media including marketing, content distribution, and writing
• Help report, according to the contemporary art world, schedule of events - including major fairs, auctions, museum shows and gallery events
• Develop feature campaigns, exhibition reviews, auction reporting and arts events to a large subscription of devoted clients and art world followers
• Monitor company accounts and manage regular profile updates and post history

Reporting Activities:
• Schedule upcoming campaigns and social media content
• Report on responses, track viewership, and identify and engage additional users
• Report directly to and work closely with the Director

REQUIREMENTS:
• Work must be performed in the office of this arts organization in Soho, NY
• This internship will require a minimum of 1-3 days/ week *Schedule and hours flexible
• Internship will start ASAP with a minimum commitment of 3 months

COMPENSATION:
Unpaid, but school credit optional and will be crafted around any requirements by candidates university.

Qualifications:

CANDIDATE: Desired Skills and Experience
• Passionate about the art world, technology and social media
• Knowledge of and experience with various social media channels and their functionality
• Excellent writing skills, especially in context of creating social media content, blog posts and press/event releases to express the voice of this organization
• Good understanding of the art world (Art History majors preferred but not required)
• Excellent visual skills and ability to execute vision on various platforms (photo editing/ Photoshop skills a plus)
• Familiarity with web analytics
• Most important must be willingness to learn, to take initiative, to think creatively, be self-directed and solutions-driven

Paid Internship Info:

Unpaid, but school credit available.
