April – OctoberCatskill Animal Sanctuary is looking for a culinary intern to support our signature vegan cooking program, Compassionate Cuisine. Our mission is to create more vegans through opportunities to connect with our animal residents at the sanctuary and by showcasing the wide variety of delicious vegan options available. This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who is vegetarian or vegan, who loves food, has experience in a professional kitchen or is working toward a culinary degree and wants to experience what it’s like to be part of a thriving animal sanctuary with an urgent mission.
We desire a part-time, seasonal intern, April through October, 3-4 days a week, which includes Saturdays, Sundays, and some holidays. The length of the internship can be discussed, but weekends are required.

Located in the New Yorks Hudson Valley, Catskill Animal Sanctuary (CAS) is a 110-acre haven for horses and farm animals rescued from cruelty and neglect. In addition to emergency rescue, CAS provides innovative programs that educate the public about the sentience of farm animals, and the devastating impacts of agribusiness and institutionalized cruelty on animals, people, and the planet.CAS offers weekend and special group tours, vegan cooking classes, speaking engagements, a summer day camp for kids, and a host of compassionate programming year round at its primarily solar-powered Sanctuary. Lodging is available on site at The Homestead, a beautifully-renovated 1813 farmhouse.
Since 2001, CAS has rescued over 2,000 animals, and has worked in tandem with law enforcement to bring animal abusers to justice. Founder/Director Kathy Stevens blogs for the Huffington Post and is the author of the highly-acclaimed books, Where the Blind Horse Sings and Animal Camp.
