International Headquarters Intern

Share |

Description:

Covenant House, the largest privately-funded NGO in the Americas working on behalf of homeless youth, is currently seeking two interns for its International Headquarters location in New York City. Ranging in scope from research to operations, project management and administrative duties, the interns will explore several facets of NGO management as they work to support projects in the areas of operations, program development, and technology.

This is a unique opportunity to get a glimpse into the workings of a large non-profit, being that it is offered at the Covenant House International Headquarters, so we prefer but are not exclusive towards those with an interest in exploring the realm of non-profits. Interns will have the unique opportunity to collaborate with international program directors and managers and will receive very individualized support and training directly from these individuals. Included in the internship program is a series of weekly discussions with international officers, program directors and headquarters management in order to develop a sense of how the organization operates directly from those that are responsible for its oversight in six countries, as well as to get a sense of their personal histories within the field of non-profit management.

The dates for the internship are flexible, though the minimum commitment is two months and 15 hours per week. We are accepting fewer interns to the program than in past years in order to refocus our objectives, so we will have flexibility around start and end dates.
