Description:

An internship at YMCA Camp Campbell Gard gives you a great knowledge and experience base for a career in environmental education and teaching.
Outdoor Education Interns work as part of a team of enthusiastic, energetic leaders who deliver programming and gain knowledge about environmental experiential education. Our student classes range from 1-3 hours and are taken from our wide curriculum that includes natural science, team building, living history, archery, wildlife adaptations and teambuilding. Interns will receive lesson plans for all the classes and are to follow these. Interns teach to groups of 12-20 elementary and middle school aged students. The professional development portion of the internship includes learning about camp administration and operation (including booking, scheduling, school visits), curriculum development and how our camp is part of the Great Miami Valley YMCA and having exposure to that relationship. Other experiences include: hosting meals, nature center feeding/cleaning, organizing evening programs, completing camp projects, completing intern project and participating in staff training.
Candidates must have a genuine desire to work with children in an outdoor setting, have a sense of humor, enjoy being part of a team and love to deliver a hands on learning curriculum that’s fun!
