JXB Radio Network is an independent consortium of artists, media creators, and television and radio professionals. We come together to create projects that reflect our personalities, values, and creative vision. Since 1995, we have produced award-winning content, including shows like Complete Garbage, The Turnbuckle Report, WMLT Hockey Night, Ground Zero, Planet Ralph, The Superblastomatic Fun Show, and Beyond the Reel. Our productions include video, audio, podcasts, and art.

The Project

We are in the pre-production phase, building the team, gathering guest lists, brainstorming etc... but the basic concept is to do an audio show about beards, beard culture, celebration of beards, etc... in a style thats more close to something you might hear on the BBC, NPR, etc...

In fact the eventual goal is to create the project with the mindset of being picked up by a major outlet and continue into the large scale domain, bringing the team along with us.

We are looking for creative people who want to expand their skillsets, learn new things, and be part of a team working towards those goals.

The core team are professionals who have worked together a long while now and have 30+ years combined experience between us all... the rest come from various backgrounds and disciplines. The hope is that people bring their talents and skills together and teach each other what they know while also learning together. like a networking incubator kind of environment.

Role Description

This position has no pay and is an internship or volunteer rolefor a new podcast in pre-production called The Glorious Beard, a celebration of beards and beard culture featuring everything from music to movies, history and more.

A beard is not required.

As a Production Assistant at JXB Radio Network, you will be responsible for day-to-day tasks related to production, quality control, idea generation, and other tasks as needed. They will work as part of a team to support various elements of podcast projects and ensure smooth operations.

We are looking for people who want to learn about: marketing, research, audio production, interviewing, hosting, and everything else that goes along with producing a podcast/radio/audio show from admin to social media and more. 

Applicants should send a resume which we will probably not care about, a cover letter explaining why you are cool and who your top 3 music artists are right now, and a good reason why you should join the team.

Students needing credit for internships and/or school and those who want to learn about this amazing field even if you have never done it are encouraged to apply.

Even if you have no experience but have always wondered what it was like to be part of a professional production, please apply. We are a team of veteran radio, video and television production people with combined 30 years real world experience and we want to pass it on to you.

Strong teamwork and collaboration abilities
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Ability to work independently and remotely
Knowledge of audio and video production techniques is a plus
Interest in media and broadcasting
Ability to be a cool person
Have a few good jokes
Be excited to take risks and learn new things for your future
Be able to use Discord for team communication
