Overview
Sockeye is a Portland-based creative agency with an active client roster with such clients as; adidas, KEEN, UO, Ruby Receptionists, Portland State University, Travel Portland among others. Our team produces inspiring creative work which includes strategy development, branding, video, interactive, digital, web and traditional media.

Sockeye is looking to find a brilliant intern who is actively interested in learning more about the advertising and marketing industry with a focus in branding, illustration, graphic or web design. We pride ourselves on our quality and diligence in creating engaging brands and marketing materials for our clients and their audiences in both traditional and non-traditional avenues (our portfolio here).

During this internship you’ll work hand-in-hand with our designers and Creative Director to learn the ins-and-outs of agency operations and design best practices, while working in a collaborative agency environment. This position will focus on design, concepting and production. We want to give you the opportunity to do what you love, while learning tangible skills in your career of choice.

What you should have:

Candidates must have a solid understanding of user-centered design principles, careful attention to detail, as well as ability to grasp multiple product requirements
Competency with typography, color, photography and working with grids
Ability to work & explore design within brand guidelines
Ability to prioritize and manage work to adhere to critical project timelines in a fast- paced environment
Must have a basic grasp of web design principles and understanding of current web technologies (html, css, javascript).
Print experience, comfortable working in high resolution files, including both vector and raster art
Requires knowledge of industry relevant Adobe Creative Suite multimedia software including Photoshop, Illustrator, Fireworks, InDesign, etc.
Pursuing a degree in Graphic Design, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.


What you’ll be doing:
Assisting our Design Team with research and concepting for upcoming projects
General production tasks--resizing, organizing, camera-ready file prep
Preparing a variety of supporting materials for various projects.
Contributing to team meetings.

Hours: 8-10/week (minimum)
Interns are expected to work a minimum number of hours each week as required by their academic counselors or departments in order to earn academic credit for the experience.

Qualifications:

Must be currently enrolled in school for internship credit at higher-education institute.
