YSA – the global organization that improves communities by increasing the number and the diversity of young people serving in substantive roles – seeks a Youth Development Intern who will assist the Outreach Team with the expansion of new and existing US national and international programs and tools in support of its partners and Global Youth Service Day (GYSD) www.GYSD.org.Internship Objectives:
• Assist Outreach team in creating resources and trainings for YSA’s partners.
• Track and report partner initiatives through websites and social media.
• Review YSA’s media hit list of GYSD 2014 organizational participants, cultivating a list of potential national and international partners.
• Research potential international organizations for Global Youth Service Network (GYSN) partnerships.
• Organize current GYSD 2014 partner data for easy reporting using Salesforce.com (training provided).
• Support Outreach team as needed.
The Youth Development Intern will develop skills in research, analytical thinking, project management, marketing, and material development.Applicants may be graduate or undergraduate students and should be able to commit to 10-15 hours per week. This intern position is non-paid. Our office is conveniently located near the McPherson Square and Farragut Square metro stations in Washington, D.C.

Qualifications:
Applicants should have:
• Strong research, writing, and interpersonal communication skills (phone, e-mail communications)
• Excel, word processing, social media, and minimal graphic design / page layout experience
• Some knowledge of service, volunteer, youth development, education, or nonprofit organizations
• Interest in Salesforce.com / customer relationship management systems
• Ability to take direction as well as be a self-starter
• Excellent organizational abilities
