Company/Organization: Teak Media Communications

Teak Media + Communication, a boutique public relations agency that promotes non-profit organizations and socially responsible companies through the media, is seeking a part-time summer 2017 intern.

Interns obtain hands-on experience working directly with all members of the Teak team and participate in team meetings. Projects include writing press materials, blog posts and social media content, creating media lists, and pitching media. Hours are flexible. Juniors and seniors are preferred.
Teak is an award-winning, values-led public relations and communication firm that increases awareness and drives public engagement for nonprofit organizations and responsible companies. Teak promotes the programs, products and services of organizations and companies that inspire human greatness and make the world a better place. The only marketing or communications firm in Massachusetts certified as a B Corp, Teak is one of 1,100 B Corps in 36 countries that is committed to bringing about social change through corporate change. The prestigious designation is awarded to companies that use the power of business to solve social and environmental problems and meet higher standards of performance, transparency and accountability. B Corps (like Ben & Jerry’s, Patagonia, and Seventh Generation) are important because they inspire all businesses to compete not only to be the best in the world, but to be the best for the world.

We are a small crew with high standards for productivity and ethics. Dress is casual, office environment is friendly, and teamwork is the norm. Unfortunately, those who cannot work in a dog-friendly environment need not apply. The dog was here first. Teak Media + Communication is located at 840 Summer Street, Suite 305A, South Boston. The office is MBTA-accessible and on-street parking is free.

Requirements include being responsible and reliable, proficiency in writing, professional phone mannerisms, an interest in the media, a desire to learn, and the ability to work well with moderate supervision. Basic computer skills and social media channels, are essential. Knowledge of Public Relations tech applications, including Vocus and Cision, are a bonus.
