Develop highly marketable accounting & bookkeeping knowledge, skills and experience while you make an impact in an organization dedicated to empowering local girls. Latinitas is a nonprofit dedicated to promoting the advancement and empowerment of Latina youth through media, art, culture and technology. We are currently seeking an Accounting & Bookkeeping Intern to assist with planning and carrying out duties related to nonprofit accounting/financial procedures and maintaining Quickbooks accounting software. This position requires a 4 month commitment of 5 hours per week. Interns will gain hands-on experience in bookkeeping, finance and working with technology. Additionally, Intern will set up accounting systems to ensure efficient operations and handle expense reports, reconciling gas log, vendor records, invoices and credit card receipts, and budget preparation. Responsibilites include:
• Manage financial documents
• Make entries into accounts and keeping software and spreadsheets updated
• Support month end close, including journal entry preparation and financial reports.
• Responsible for the preparation of invoices and billing.
• Review and process selected monthly accounting transactions.
• Prepare reconciliations on various general ledger accounts.
• Assist in the preparation of financial plans & forecasts.
• Totaling time-sheets for payroll input.
• Perform various basic accounting and finance activities.
• Reconciliation of credit cards (collecting receipts and matching to credit card bills)

• Collecting and totaling monthly service logs
• Following up with supervisors regarding billing discrepancies
• Assist with fundraising events.

Qualifications:

Qualifications: An individual with accounting experience, or who is currently studying accounting is preferred, but is not required. QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel experience a plus and training is provided. The ideal candidate will be computer savvy and have the ability to work independently once trained.
