Distinguished Events Intern
Description:
The Distinguished Events Intern will primarily assist with projects related to the American Cancer Society Coaches vs. Cancer Full Court Press on April 14, 2010, Swing Fore A Cure Golf Tournament on August 3, 2010, and Birthday Ball in the fall of 2010. Responsibilities for these events will include: PR, marketing, and social media work, preparation for silent and live auctions; writing item descriptions and handling acknowledgements for the silent auctions; data entry, assisting with guest list and seating assignments; assist with the preparation of the program books; work on event volunteer assignments and communications. The intern will report to the Distinguished Events Director in our Virginia Beach office located at 4416 Expressway Drive in Virginia Beach. This is a non-paid position and is not eligible for benefits.
Qualifications:
•Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills
•Demonstrate significant computer expertise, including MS Office applications
•Demonstrated ability in handling multiple priorities, project management and meeting deadlines
•Provide professional/academic references upon request from ACS and comply with all ACS pre-employment screening requirements including criminal background investigation
•Be able to work a minimum of 16 hours a week at the Virginia Beach office location during normal business operating hoursApplicants will also be required to complete a standard internship application form and comply with all ACS standard pre-employment screening procedures which may include a background investigation including but not limited to criminal background investigation and provision of an official transcript attesting to their GPA and favorable standing as a full-time student.
