This is an opportunity to contribute to our meaningful, compelling mission while gaining invaluable work experience behind the scenes of the USO!The USO is offering Fall 2011 and Spring 2012 student volunteer opportunities for rising college Juniors, Seniors and Graduate Students. These opportunities can provide you with the hands-on non-profit knowledge that you need, either to fulfill practicum credit requirements or to gain experience that will set your resume apart.
Opportunities are currently available in the following areas:
Marketing & Communication · Collaborate with everyone on the Marketing and Communications Team, as well as people in and out of the USO and throughout the world. · Become engaged with the USO and its mission, initiatives, and values. Cultivate positive, lasting relationships (both personal and professional) with mentors at the USO. · Research, draft and edit newsletters and a variety of communications materials such as emails, intranet articles and letters.
Fundraising & Development - Donor Services Donor Stewardship · Support USO fundraising and development efforts (including donor appeals and mailings and special events). · Provide support in sending mailings and provide current donors and members with information requests.
TEAM USO · Support TEAM USO fundraising and development efforts including recruitment, activation and stewardship activities. · Provide support in preparing mailings and assisting current members with information requests, including setting up personal fundraising page, identifying fundraising goals, etc. · Assist in preparing and sending out electronic and hard copy communications to team members as may be necessary for meetings, events, and announcements. · Assisting with some administrative duties related to TEAM USO. ·
Qualifications:
Resume and cover letter are required for full consideration.Please indicate area/department of interest in the cover letter. At the time of your interview, you will be required to bring a copy of your current transcripts along with two (2) letters of recommendation. ·
Student Volunteer opportunities are unpaid but we do provide a transportation allowance. Depending on your availability, these opportunities can either be a full -time or part-time schedule (2-3 days/week). ·
These opportunities provide great, hands-on experience to be utilized as service hours towards a curriculums practicum requirement or work experience!! ·
