CEE STEM Education Intern (2 available)
The Center for Excellence in Education (CEE) is seeking to fill (2) undergraduate internship positions for the summer of 2012. The Centers mission is to nurture high school and university scholars to careers of excellence and leadership in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, and to encourage collaboration between and among leaders in the global community. The CEE summer interns will research trends in education, with a focus on the need to re-corporate arts and humanities education into the science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) movement taking place, as well as the need to incorporate science and technology into the humanities. Interns will present their research in a report that will be disseminated to industry executives, stakeholders, and members of Congress in mid-August. This position is ideal for those undergraduates who wish to gain a greater understanding of the non-profit education environment and experience in the area of education and science policy. The internship positions are paid.
•Committed to work at least 8-weeks during the summer (late May/early June to mid-August)
•Expected to work eight hours between the hours of 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM Monday – Friday
•Must have excellent writing and communication skills and able to relate to colleagues at all levels of CEE
•Must have strong working knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office applications
•Capable of conducting independent research with little advisement
•Intern must cover his/her own lodging, food, and transportation costs to CEE’s office in Mclean, Virginia
