Development Internship in Ghana

This fall travel with a group of your peers to Ghana, West Africa to explore sustainable development while putting classroom theory to practice as you develop a social venture to support a non profit and explore the question: How do we develop communities and organizations towards self sustainability?

Interns will work with a a local non profit to develop AND implement a business plan that will create jobs and sustain the ongoing efforts of the organization. Youll explore resource mobilization, fair trade, renewable energy and entrepreneurship. This a great opportunity for students and graduates to build a foundation for a career in development, gain international experience, and leave a sustainable impact in a community.

Your group will vote on a project and use seed money to implement the winning project. Local partners include USAID West African Trade Hub, University of Legon, and the Local Municipal Authority.

This structured program consists of several components that prepare and provide you with the support and guidance needed to implement successful projects with a group of your peers and local leaders.

-orientation

- lectures

- business plan development

- implementation

- training and education

Who Should Apply: This is an interdisciplinary program which seeks students from a diverse backgrounds including international development, business, marketing, design and engineering.
