Intern - Administrative Support

Description:

The candidate will be responsible for assisting with various short and long term projects that are assigned to Information Services. The candidate must have good communication skills and interact with employees from other departments, understand their day to day tasks, and provide possible solutions to solve issues and improve productivity. They should be able to take on challenges and look for the most effective solutions that balance the priorities of all departments. They must have the ability to be creative and resourceful in problem solving while working effectively with a range of technical backgrounds.
Responsibilities:
  • System & Network Administration
  • Perform Maintenance on computer and network equipment
  • Public facing website maintenance

Experience in other modern technologies that might be applied to this position would include, but are not limited to:
  • Symantec Backup Exec
  • Virtualization Technologies
  • Microsoft SharePoint

The IT Intern will also be responsible for participating with Information Services in providing outstanding Desktop/Helpdesk support to staff both onsite and offsite, remote via telephone. Applications included in this support will include the following Microsoft Programs:
  • Office 2003/2007/2010
  • Outlook 2007/2010
  • Project 2007/2010
  • Visio 2007/2010
  • Dynamics AX

Qualifications:

REQUIRED SKILLS
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
Experience with SharePoint
Must be able to prioritize projects, maintain accurate records, and multitask in a fast-paced environment
Professional interaction and customer service skills are essential. Must demonstrate good oral, written, reading, and listening skills for effective communication
Must be self-motivated with good team building skills

QUALIFICATIONS
Qualified candidates should be interested in a career in Information Technology, and have the following skill set:

  • Currently enrolled in a undergraduate program of study emphasizing Information Technology or Computer Science
  • Familiarity with Network-based Administration
  • Experience working in an office environment, and an interest in providing Desktop/Helpdesk support to a variety of users (both Hardware and Software)
  • Knowledge of the aforementioned Microsoft and other software products
  • Aptitude for quick learning
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills

Length/Availability:

2 - 6 months
