Graphic Design Summer Intern
Description:
As part of its mission to foster a sense of global responsibility among the next generation of U.S. leaders and consumers, Mercado Global accepts a limited number of U.S. students as interns at our Panajachel, Guatemala offices. The internship offers the opportunity to learn about the inner workings of an international non-profit organization while becoming familiar with the growing Fair Trade industry.Reporting to and working with the Director of Design, the Graphic Design intern will support the development and sales of new Mercado Global’s seasonal collections and the collections for key sales partners such as Levi Strauss, Crate & Barrel and Travelsmith. He/She will provide support with designing sales pitch and promotional materials (e.g. lookbooks, brochures and product catalogs), improving web graphics, and expanding the content and multimedia of the existing website. The Graphic Design Intern will improve his or her skills in graphic design for marketing and sales purposes while learning about the field of social entrepreneurship and the general inner workings of an international NGO.
Qualifications:
Strong organizational skills required. Recent graduate or pursuing a degree in graphic design, fashion communications, or visual communications. Previous experience in graphic design, sales and marketing. Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe InDesign, and Adobe Illustrator. Proficiency in Spanish preferred.
