Description:

The Teshie Childrens Home in Ghana began as a child care society which operates from Teshie-Nungua, a suburb of Accra, where the Cripples Home is now located. This is the most over looked Orphanage in recent years in the Capital. The society was established in 1994 by Mrs. Janet Parker with the help of several Ghanaian women to care for orphans and vulnerable children. The number of these children increased over time as a result of industrialization and urbanization. Presently, the number of children as at now, between the ages of 7 months and 20 years is 45. That is 23 boys and 22 girls. Teshie Orphanage has been in existence 8 years ago
The organization provides a home for these vulnerable children at all levels of education from senior high school, special needs schools, all the way down to pre-school. Basic schooling is done within the community and children are given the opportunity to make the best of their abilities without hindrance. This is achieved through the awarding of scholarships by several renowned schools, sponsorships by individuals and organisations, and the Children’s Home’s resources. It is the mission of Teshie Orphanage Home to provide children with appropriate care and clearly established regulations and procedures to afford them hope for a better future. This hope comes from the efforts to fully reintegrate all those children in the Home back into mainstream society.
It is the aim of the Teshie Orphanage with the help of Volunteers and any form of aid to run educational, health care clinics and awareness-raising programmes relating to women and children.
