INTERNSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Community Outreach & Program Development Coordinator Intern will assist the Community Outreach Unit with:
• Having the opportunity to conduct presentations to inform the public about CCRB services, police oversight process, and individuals’ rights and responsibilities during police encounters.
• Aggregating and analyzing audience’s impact of Outreach efforts: demographics, geographic, and outreach strategy.
• Assisting in designing informational brochures and marketing materials to promote CCRB.
• Researching and identifying Community Boards, Civil Rights Organizations, schools and etcetera to do Outreach.
• Communicating with organizations to schedule Outreach presentations, as well as preparing materials and curriculum for Outreach.
• Updating internal Community Outreach database, organizing electronic and hardcopy archives and folders.
Qualifications:
Candidates for the Fall 2014 internship should be enrolled in or have completed a Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree, or work experience in Educational Psychology, Learning and Development, Organizational Learning, Industrial-Organizational Psychology, Political Science, Urban Policy, Social Policy, Public Service, Public Administration, Education, or a related field, and acquire a minimum GPA of 3.0. Candidates should possess excellent interpersonal, organizational, and computer skills. Spanish fluency is a plus.

The Civilian Complaint Review Board (CCRB) - New York City’s independent police oversight agency - is empowered to receive, investigate, make findings, prosecute and recommend action on complaints against New York City police officers that allege the use of excessive force, abuse of authority, discourtesy or offensive language. The Board’s investigations are conducted in an impartial fashion by the Board’s investigative staff, which is comprised entirely of civilian employees.
