Internship: Web Marketing
“The internship was well structured, but never overwhelming. The projects I worked on made me a better writer, researcher, and critical thinker. I loved learning about how to change and adapt websites. Keeping up the social media accounts was a fun experience that allowed me to link Whitaker Brothers with things I was already interested in.”

“I really enjoyed working as an intern with Whitaker Brothers. I was really nervous when I first started because this was my first internship, but everyone here made me feel very welcome and constantly encouraged me throughout the semester. Through this experience, I was able to put the concepts and theories I learned about in the classroom to use, and gained a better grasp on the type of work I want to do post-college. Interning with Whitaker Brothers has definitely helped me build up my skill-set, and I credit this experience for helping me land another great internship for this summer.”

Internship: Web Marketing
“I really liked how the internship gave me real hands on experience with projects that actually have an affect on the company whether it’s finding other sites to post our blogs or writing product descriptions or making a web page. I not only learned a lot but the internship gave me a chance to then apply what I learned to real projects, which taught me even more.

I’m really happy that I got to be on the back-end of the company’s website and learn how websites generally function through hands on experience. I feel I can apply everything I learned about coding and formatting web pages to any job in the future.

I’m also really happy that I learned the basics to video editing. I think that’s a very valuable skill to have especially in the communication and internet sides of any company.”

Internship: Web Marketing
“This internship was a great way to gain experience using Magento and EBay to place new products online and update existing ones. There were also a number of opportunities to work away from the computer with the product demonstration videos that were made over the course of the internship. I also gained experience with using basic HTML and writing product descriptions to be put on the site and on EBay listings. This was a great experience with the back end of an internet store as well as making multimedia content to go with product listings.”

“During the course of this internship, I learned about and experimented with several of the technicalities and mechanics that go on into marketing, such as HTML coding, dealing with Magento and WordPress, and SEO techniques. Additionally, I worked in the more mainstream, front-end fields of marketing, such as writing blog posts, product descriptions, and product reviews for customers to interact with directly.”

Internship: Business Operations
“Overall, I really enjoyed the internship. I had several eye opening moments where I directly tied things I learned in a classroom setting to the office work. I learned skills in a small business setting which would apply to any size business. Ted, Pete, Doris, Katie and all of the employees in operations were all very helpful, kind, and supportive.”

“This has been one of the best internship programs I’ve had the pleasure of working with. I loved the relaxed and flexible environment and appreciated how hands-on and involved the internship managers were. I learned so many new skill sets during my time here that I’m sure to use in my future workplace. While the commute was rough, I was happy to come in to work every day because I knew that the work I was doing was actually useful for the company and meant something. The days always went by fast because I was contributing and learning something new. I’m very grateful that I was chosen for this valuable experience - Whitaker Brothers has been nothing but a positive reinforcement and self esteem boost going into the workplace. Thank you so much for such a wonderful opportunity! :)”

History
Internship: Web Marketing
“When First entering this internship I was not quite sure what I was going to receive from the opportunity besides college credit. The things I learned far surpassed my preconceived expectations. I undoubtedly consider this experience to be irreplaceable, having garnered innumerable skills that have drastically increased my marketability in a highly competitive job market. This was truly a unique experience seeing as I did not feel as though I was working for someone, but instead working with everyone. Eric, Kyle (I guess courtney) and everyone else contributed to an amazing workplace environment that was light hearted yet goal oriented. The only bad thing about this internship is that I now have exceptionally high standards related to what I expect a workplace environment to be. If an intern has the drive and desire to learn everything they can from this invaluable opportunity they will be rewarded with an in depth understanding of internet marketing which is essential in so many niches of industry today.”

“I really enjoyed working in a friendly small-business atmosphere at Whitaker Brothers. Even people who were not my internship coordinators bothered to stop and chat once in a while and Eric made me feel more like a person than a drone. Im an English major and came in expecting to put those skills to use, yet came out with a useful familiarity with online business practices and website coding. I had no prior web design experience but now I can do basic html, a skill which I know will enhance my English degree and make me more marketable.”

“I had no idea what to expect but I ended up producing enough content to make my experience at Whitaker Brothers an entire section of my senior writing portfolio (which means I could analyze the purpose and decisions behind each document and thus they were actually meaningful not just basically retyping things). The more that you put into this experience the more you will get out as you continue to explore and learn about different facets of marketing and the internet division. I learned not only about SEO and what goes into building a website but the dynamics of a company and even was able to put my own skills to work in a unique way. It is a great company to work for and all of the people are always willing to help you out if you need it! “

My internship at Whitaker Brothers was truly valuable. I improved my
technical writing skills as well as learned a lot about SEO techniques,
building websites and working with all types of media. I was able to
work closely with various people in the company and grew a lot as a
writer as a result.

“As someone with no prior internship experience up until now, I consider Whitaker Brothers to be a great starting point for someone looking to get their feet wet. I honestly learned so much here about search engines and internet marketing, even though I expected to be mostly doing busywork and what-not. Also, I completed so many written assignments to add to my portfolio that I never would have had before, as well as got feedback for said assignments so that it’s not like I puked gibberish on a page and dumped it into my portfolio.”

“Whitaker Brothers helped me apply skills I learned in class to their business advertising. Specifically, I was able to use my general understanding of Google Adwords to build out new PPC ad campaigns and then track their progress, making adjustments along the way. They also introduced me to other departments to get a better understanding of the business as a whole.”

Since this was my first internship, I was nervous about starting it because I was not sure what to expect. Luckily, it ended up being a wonderful experience. The office environment was professional and fun, and everyone was so nice and helpful. I still keep in touch with some of my fellow interns. I learned a lot and definitely would recommend this internship to anyone looking to gain real-world experience.
