Communications Intern: Write for a National Publication!

The United Service Organizations (USO) is proud to offer an internship within our Communications department during the fall 2015 semester. We are looking for smart, enthusiastic, detail- oriented writers who have an interest in the military, and a passion to serve those who serve America.Interns will work 15-20 hours per week and will contribute to articles to be published in the 75th Anniversary Issue of On Patrol Magazine. You will work with seasoned professional writers and acquire at least one bylined, published piece for your portfolio.
Internship would start ASAP and run through December. This is an unpaid internship for college credit or work experience.
Responsibilities/Duties
•Work with Editorial Services team on multiple issues of the On Patrol magazine.
•Help complete the Winter issue of the On Patrol magazine.
•Majority of work would revolve around the Spring 2016 issue - the 75th anniversary of the USO issue.
•Cultivating a limited number of student writers around the country to contribute articles for the On Patrol magazine.
•Intern would be involved in nearly every aspect of the On Patrol magazine project, with potential to work with our archivist.
•Intern will acquire at least one bylined, published piece suitable for a portfolio.
Qualifications:
•Current undergrad or grad student
•Strong writing/storytelling skills
•Research experience
•Ability to multi-task
•Strong organizational skills
•Knowledge of the Military is preferred but not required
•Preference to Journalism majors
