SUMMER 2014 - Museum Education Internship

Description:

Intern will work closely with the Senior Education Specialist and other education staff to implement a broad spectrum of programs to engage visitors in the exhibitions and inspire creativity. Summer interns will primarily assist in Summer Art Camps for ages pre-school through teen: visual arts, ceramics, cooking and performing arts. Other major summer programs include the Midsummer Festival of the Arts in July and the Educators Institute in June. Specific areas of focus depend on departmental needs and the intern’s skills and interests.

Responsibilities:
• Assist with the planning and implementation of education programs
• Manage studios, prepare materials and assist instructors for summer camps and classes
• Assist with family workshops, family festivals and exhibition openings
• Assist with the organization and inventory of Education storage, maintenance of studios and supplies
• Prepare program packets, presentation and workshop materials as needed

Qualifications:

• Currently obtaining or have completed a degree in Studio Art, Art Education, Education, Museum Education or related field
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Familiarity with hands-on art making processes
• Ability to work with people of all ages and backgrounds

Hours:

40 hours/week

Length/Availability:
