Special Events Intern – Lawyers Have Heart 10K Race & 5K Run/Walk

Join us for an exciting time in our event’s history; 2015 marks the 25th anniversary of Lawyers Have Heart 10K Race & 5K Run/Walk! Recognized as the major philanthropic effort for DC’s legal and consulting community, Lawyers Have Heart is the largest 10K in Washington D.C. Founded in 1991 by two of Washington DC’s leading attorneys, Alan Raul and Rick Frank, Lawyers Have Heart (LHH) has raised almost $10 million dollars, which has been utilized to strengthen the American Heart Association’s mission to build healthier lives, free of cardiovascular disease and stroke.

As a Special Events and Development Intern, you will be helping the Lawyers Have Heart team expand their outreach efforts and grow participation. Through performing research, conducting outreach to law firms, businesses, and running communities in the Washington D.C. Metro Area, and developing relationships with future partners, you will gain invaluable experience in event planning, communication, and marketing.

RESPONSIBILITIES
? Perform research and conduct outreach to businesses and organizations in the DC Metro Area
? Draft cultivation letters and other marketing materials to promote Lawyers Have Heart, and acquire new corporate participation
? Assist with the coordination and production of small-scale events for current and prospective partners
? Maintains team’s database on a weekly basis, including entering received donations within a 48 hour time period and utilizing the database to create mailings, emails, and reports on a regular basis as requested.
? Maintains a high level of customer service by responding to customers and volunteer inquiries both internally and externally in a knowledgeable and timely manner regarding AHA related events.
? Supports LHH event logistics including committee meetings, cultivation events, health fairs, and race day.
? Assist with the recruitment and management of volunteers.
? Day-to-day assignments and other special projects related to the coordination and execution of the 2015 Lawyers Have Heart 10K Race & 5K Run/Walk.

QUALIFICATIONS
? Recent graduate or degree-seeking individual, who has a strong interest in nonprofit work, health and wellness, event planning, communications and public relations. Preferred majors include: Communication, Advertising, Marketing, Hospitality Management, and the Social Sciences.
? Has experience in working in a fast-paced office environment and performing administrative duties such as: coordinating large mailings, managing databases, and applying advanced computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Candidates with Kintera Blackbaud experience are highly preferred.
? Must be organized, punctual and able to handle multiple projects.
