ABOUT CFLS:
Community Family Life Services (CFLS) is a non-profit which serves the low-income and homeless families and individuals living in Washington, D.C. Our mission is to provide clients with the tools they need to move themselves beyond poverty and homelessness into permanent self-sufficiency by 1) providing short-term crisis assistance, and (2) empowering individuals and families to change their lives over the long term. Our holistic approach provides clients with education, skills, and support from a committed staff, enabling each client to pursue his/her goals.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Community Family Life Services seeks an energetic and committed Programs Intern to assist the Program and Case Managers in providing supportive and emergency services to clients. This internship is an excellent opportunity to work in direct services and to help those who are in need. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, able to multi-task, has experience or interest in non-profit work.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
• Contact clients regarding program events, opportunities and evaluation.
• Help plan, prepare and market program events.
• Provide office and logistical support to Program and Case Managers.
• Assist with research and small projects related to: Emergency Services, Family-to-Family Mentoring Program, Youth Services, Volunteer Mentor Partnership Program, Employment Counseling, Parent and Family Education Program and the Parent Center.
• Assist with emergency services donation intake and food distribution.
• Compile weekly program updates.
• Help maintain program documentation and file systems.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

RECOMMENDED QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
• High school diploma required.
• Currently enrolled in or recently completed a bachelor or graduate degree with a major or related course work in social work, non-profit studies, sociology, humanities, or related field.
• Prior paid or volunteer experience in a non-profit, education or cultural environment a plus.
• Excellent internet research, organization and communication skills.
• Ability to work well in a team and with multiple tasks.
• Computer aptitude with Microsoft Office.
