POSITION SUMMARY: Accokeek Foundation is seeking a communications and mediasavvy self-starter to intern in the Communications Department at our offices located at Piscataway Park, Accokeek, Maryland. This is an unpaid position, and can be either part- or full-time. Candidates should be enrolled in or recently graduated from an undergraduate or graduate program in communications, journalism, or related field. The intern position is writing intensive and the intern will be expected to help write and edit pieces for Accokeek Foundation’s media and outreach efforts. The intern will create dynamic content on various web and social networking platforms. The intern will track and compile mentions of Accokeek Foundation and its related programs in multiple media. The communications intern should have excellent writing, editing, researching, web publishing, and organizational skills.
Qualifications:
INTERN QUALIFICATIONS:
• Excellent writing, editing, and research skills
• Creative multimedia content development
• Strong desire to experiment, brainstorm, and think outside the box
• Comfort with technology and editing skills
• Familiarity with various social networking sites
• Passion for engaging conversations about sustainable agriculture and environmental stewardship practices
• Excellent interpersonal skills to interact professionally within a diverse community.
