Company/Organization: The Griffin Museum of Photography

Description:

The Griffin Museum Internship Program is a rewarding experience for those who are interested in expanding their knowledge of both the art of photography and the daily operations involved in running a small highly regarded museum. If this and the opportunity to meet a variety of people in the field of photography excite you, we encourage you to contact us.

The internship program is designed to help students of all ages to learn the inner functioning of a museum. Interns will be asked to work a minimum of one full day per week and occasionally assist with special events such as openings, portfolio reviews and fundraisers. As an intern you will participate in a variety of activities including visitor services, receiving, unpacking and registering artists’ work, packing and return shipping, organizing closets, archiving, framing and everything in between. Interns will also help with prepping galleries and installing new exhibitions at our primary and satellite locations. Observing the process of work submission and what is entailed in mounting an exhibition is an invaluable experience for those who wish to go forward as working artists. Everyday is different at the museum; we are looking for hard working, flexible, responsible and committed interns with a passion for the arts and photography.

We will work with your academic institution to meet internship requirements for course credits.
