The FDA is standing up a Regulatory Science Student Internship Program for graduate students in good standing. The Program is an unpaid internship that is part of the Student Volunteer Service Program.*

Students will work closely with an FDA Senior Scientist to develop a research project that supports the students educational and professional goals. The FDA Mentor will work with the student to establish an individual development plan for the internship period which will include formal FDA training courses and on-the-job training specific to their formal curriculum.

The internship is a unique training opportunity for students to:
1) explore FDA career possibilities
2) learn about how FDA addresses public health issues
3) gain professional experience
4) enhance your academic experiences through real-world projects in a regulatory science environment, and
5) understand FDAs mission and organization.

*Authorized under 5 U.S.C. 3111. Participants in the Regulatory Science Internship Program are unpaid volunteers and distinct from paid interns serving under the Pathways Program or other internship programs authorized by law. A student volunteer is not a Federal employee for any purpose other than injury compensation and law related to the Tort Claims Act. Service is not creditable for leave or any other employee benefits.


All applicants must:
1) Have a baccalaureate degree
2) Be currently enrolled or accepted in to a graduate degree-seeking program at an accredited institution on at least a half-time basis
3) Be in good standing with their academic institution
4) Be a U.S. citizen
