Company/Organization: Womens Studio Workshop


This internship is for women considering a career in arts administration. You will work alongside WSW’s administrative staff attending to the myriad details that keep an arts organization running smoothly.

This intern will promote and share WSW’s programming, events, and visiting artists through a variety of communications and marketing projects, including: blogging, building marketing emails, and writing and distributing press releases. She will manage a weekly e-marketing calendar, creating, aggregating, and scheduling content for Facebook, Twitter, and other e-communications. The ability to produce clear and accurate written content is essential for this position, applicants must be confident in composing a wide variety of messages while maintaining a consistent voice for WSW.

Other projects include: managing WSW’s database, processing memberships and gifts, managing workshop registration, fulfilling artists’ book orders, assisting with special events, processing artist residency proposals for jury review, answering the phone, and other day-to-day office duties.

The Arts Administration Internship includes a private room in WSW’s on-campus Anne Atwood artist’s housing and a stipend of $300/month. Interns work 40 hours a week, generally Monday through Friday, 9-5 pm, but the schedule changes to accommodate the workshop’s schedule. This session can culminate with an exhibition of work created during the term.


Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
Must be detail-oriented and tech savvy
The ability to prioritize, and work both independently and collaboratively
Deep knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite
Professionalism and phone poise

Graphic design and web skills
Knowledge of SalesForce, WordPress, InDesign, MailChimp or Photoshop
Experience sharing content across multiple social media channels

Application must include:
1. A letter of interest addressing why an art administration internship at WSW is important to you, and what type of experience(s) you would bring to WSW
2. Three current letters of reference
3. A resume
4. Up to three work samples relating to administrative work. At least two must be writing samples (i.e. press releases, blog posts, design samples).
5. Up to 10 images of recent work with an image script, which should include title, medium, dimension, and date.
