AWARD-WINNING CARIBBEAN LIFESTYLE MAGAZINE SEEKING COMMUNICATIONS INTERN
Island Syndicate is a media, branding and entertainment company looking for Communications students to join our team immediately. Your duties will include helping to build out the digital side of our award-winning print magazine, including populating and managing our editorial calendar, assigning, soliciting and editing written content, strategically scheduling and managing social media posts across multiple platforms, and producing (behind the scenes) topic-driven weekly Facebook live broadcasts.
This is an unpaid internship, ideally for students seeking immersive skills-building for college credits, who want to learn the practical skills they will need for a career in the digital world. Candidates should have some amount of aptitude in marketing, communications, social media, public relations, graphic design (preferably), critical thinking, and strong command of the English language (writing and editing).
Our team will work closely with you to help strengthen your talents and efficiency. You will be expected to contribute fully to the development of the online platform, and to any other area of our business activities that may interest you, including print publication, video production, event management, graphic design, web design and sponsorship solicitation.
Caribbean heritage or strong affiliation a big plus.
Location: Downtown Fort Lauderdale. Candidates may work remotely for part of each week.Minimum commitment: 12 hours / week. Min 8 weeks.
JOB DESCRIPTION: CONTENT CREATION & MANAGEMENTUpdating and managing quarterly editorial calendar for website content
Soliciting content (from guest writers), editing, writing and posting written content on website(s)
Finding appropriate imagery from stock photography
Updating and managing quarterly editorial calendar for social media including IG, Pinterest, FB, G+ and Youtube
Managing email promotions
Engaging social media followers
Press release writing and distribution
Simple graphic design capability in Photoshop preferred but not required
Simple editing capabilities in Premiere Pro preferred but not required
Qualifications:
SKILLSStrong critical thinking, curiosity and clarity in communication
Extremely organized and detail oriented
Ability to work independently as well as in partnership with team
Ability to listen and communicate clearly
Self-motivated with a strong work ethic
Ability to balance multiple projects
Adobe Photoshop and Premiere skills a big plus
Social media management skills a big plus
