Shumate Council, Inclusion and Diversity Initiatives Intern

Fall 2020-Spring 2021) This intern will provide administrative assistance, supporting and participating in planning inclusion, diversity, and engagement initiatives focused in African American communities. In addition, the intern will fill requests for information and materials, run errands, and perform miscellaneous office tasks as needed.Responsibilities include assisting the Associate Director of Education in advocacy and engagement efforts; organizing and archiving program materials; helping maintain an online presence for documenting, translating, and transferring information to either a blog or other online tool; taking notes during meetings; conducting online research; and gathering information or materials for Shumate Council initiatives, diversity participation, and diverse audience building; and sitting as an actively participating junior member on the Shumate Council.
Qualifications:
Requirements: Hours are flexible. Candidates must be available at least 2–5 hours every week; computer and technology literate, preferably with some basic design skills; interested in inclusion and diversity, outreach and community engagement, and museum education. Candidate must also possess research skills in addition to strong written and verbal communication skills.
