Goddess Connections is looking for smart, diligent and enthusiastic Journalism Interns for 2014 to work on our online publications for women. Journalism interns will work in a variety of areas throughout the editorial department, including features, health, women in business, gender issues, dating, relationships, parenting, fashion, beauty, books, music, food, technology, politics, money and markets.

An established online controversial womens magazine publisher located in the media capital of Toronto, Canada is seeking bright journalism students to work in-house (with virtual access) to prepare features and content for our online platforms.

We look for interns with strong reporting, interviewing and writing skills. The best are quick studies who can work independently, but know when to ask questions. It helps to be detail oriented and dogged about accuracy. On a daily basis, interns will also be involved in providing research and reporting for features, gathering data for graphics and fact-checking, as well as actively participating in planning and story pitch meetings. Finally adhereing to an editorial calendar and meeting deadlines is paramount to success in the internship.

Previous business, health / fitness, relationships, beauty / fashion reporting experience is not a requirement, but interest in womens issues, the female perspective and content for women is.

Qualifications:

Requirements:
Total of 240 hours averages to 20 hours per week
Must have your own laptop to use at home or in the office
If the internship is fulfilling college credit, you must comply with all school requirements
Able to work well in a team environment
You are a student or recent graduate who is passionate about news and a quick learner.
You have a strong academic record in journalism, economics, business, law, accounting, languages or computer science.
You have journalism experience.
You are fluent in English and possess excellent writing and communication skills.
You have good mathematics skills.
You have the legal right to work in the country where you have chosen to apply.
Advanced skills in other languages - particularly Spanish, French, Portuguese, Arabic, Mandarin, German - are an asset.
Use of Basecamp and Google Documents / Google Drive to plan and organize tasks

Bonus Points:
Experience in Digital Media, Internet Marketing and/or Publishing industries.
You have a portfolio of your thought provoking and creative work; written, audio, video and events.
Know your way around Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Google Apps and Google Drive.
You have worked with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Indesign, Fireworks and Dreamweaver.
You have been exposed to and used Camtasia, Screenflow, Skype and Evernote in your projects.
You read, write and speak another language.
