The Travis County Medical Society (TCMS) is a component society of the Texas Medical Association, a statewide professional organization of licensed physicians. With more than 3,200 members, the Travis County Medical Society represents approximately 90% of all practicing physicians in the Greater Austin area. The Travis County Medical Society represents the medical profession in matters of importance to the membership and to the community it serves.We are seeking an enthusiastic college Junior or Senior to assist in the development of social media and other membership communication strategies during the 2014 Summer.
The internship will offer an opportunity to learn more about various aspects of Public Relations and Communications. This is a paid position and credit to satisfy academic requirements can be offered if needed.
Under the supervision of the Communications Coordinator, the intern will:
Gather information from staff and outside sources for posting to electronic vehicles.
Work with all levels of staff and customers to write communications.
Write and edit copy for TCMS publications.
Solicit advertising for TCMS publications.
Help maintain photos for the directory and community-wide identification program, as well as record information in the member database.
Update and keep current the TCMS Newsletter and Journal history.
Qualifications:
Who are we looking for?
Undergraduate Junior or Senior studying Communications, Public Relations, or a related field is preferred.
Extremely organized individual with excellent phone and people skills.
Must have working knowledge of desktop publishing, such as QuarkXPress, InDesign, Photoshop, and MS Office.
Maintains a professional demeanor and appearance at all times.
Must be available to work approximately 10-15 hours per week.
