Marketing and Communications Intern

Description:
This internship for credit is highly interactive and offers the opportunity to gain a range of substantive experience in communications, public relations, marketing, social media, video, design, website analytics, and events planning and coordination in a non-profit setting. Supporting a 3-person team, the intern will work part-time to full-time (16 to 35 hours/week). PENCIL’s Marketing & Communications Intern will provide critical support by:- Drafting written communications and developing visual content for PENCIL’s website, blog, and social media pages, including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube and Flickr.
- Assisting with the development and design of print and digital collateral.
- Leveraging HTML knowledge to assist with e-campaigns and invitations.
- Assisting with video production Documenting and archiving PENCIL media placements.
- Supporting event preparation and planning.
- Collecting and analyzing metrics from PENCIL’s e-communications, social channels, and website.
- Performing research as needed.
- Supporting the department with general office tasks and special projects as needed.
Qualifications:
Requirements:
- Highly motivated, knowledgeable college or graduate student, with passion for and coursework in media, communications, English, marketing, or related fields.
- Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and social media outlets.
- Strong editing, verbal, and written communications skills and demonstrated interest in marketing, communications, and/or events coordination.
- Highly organized and strong attention to detail.
- Flexible and able to learn quickly.
- Availability to work at least 16 hours/week.
- Demonstrated passion for promoting quality public education and student achievement!
