TRUE COLORS EXPANSION INTERNSHIP
JOB CALL FY17 Fall

The Theater Offensive is seeking motivated young folks who are excited about arts activism and dedicated to our mission, to assist the Youth Programs Manager with running True Colors Programming.
Members of the LGBTQ community, and people of color are highly encouraged to apply. If you have experience living, working and playing in Dorchester, Roxbury, Jamaica Plain or the South End, that is a plus! If you have experience working with diverse, urban LGBTQ communities, that is a plus! Our internships can be geared towards folks of all experience levels.

About True Colors:
The Theater Offensive’s mission is to present the diversity of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer lives in art so bold it breaks through personal isolation, challenges the status quo and builds thriving communities. True Colors: Out Youth Theater uses a proven community-based theater approach to train and inspire LGBTQ and allied youth leaders. The majority of participants are youth of color from urban neighborhoods ages 14-29. True Colors youth leaders work with The Theater Offensive to develop comprehensive True Colors programming that engages each participant deeply in the organization’s mission.

Theater Expansion Intern
Duties:
Maintain rehearsal/workshop calendars
Capture + Record demographic information
Communicate with Teaching Artists
Set-up + Maintain Studio space
Document rehearsal notes
Manage social media outreach
Purchase supplies for programs

Schedule:
20 hours a week; 15 in office hours + 5 out of office hours at least
The times in which these hours are completed are flexible!

Compensation:
There are limited stipends available. We urge applicants to seek other sources of income. The internship section of the Theater Offensive website offers resources for funding.

Qualifications:

Strong communications skills (written, verbal)
Able to work independently on administrative tasks
Knowledgeable of the Google platform
Desire to work in creative/community spaces
Superb time management skills
Experience working with youth theater ensembles and/or teaching artists
Able to manage working of several projects
Can think on your feet
Commitment to mission of The Theater Offensive
