Wildlife Sense is an organization, based in Kefalonia, Greece, that runs an international volunteer program to protect endangered plants and animals while promoting scientific research and raising public awareness. Our project is specially designed so that participants acquire an in-depth and hands-on experience in field conservation, enhance their skills, particularly those necessary for the life sciences, experience a new culture and improve interpersonal skills all while exploring a beautiful island.Responsibilities include:
•Monitor sea turtle nesting beaches to collect data and protect the nests
•Sea turtle observation- Record individual/group behaviors of the sea turtles Argostoli Bay
•Sediment cores of beach- Analyze the sand composition and quality on nesting beaches
•Forest research and conservation on Mt. Ainos
•Public awareness
•Maintenance and preparation of research equipment
Qualifications:
•18 years of age or older
•Stay for 2 weeks minimum (if you are interested in obtaining college credit this time frame may increase depending on university requirements)
•Comfortable riding a bicycle
•Able to walk/bike during a hot day
Hours:
30-150hrs depending on university requirements
